The Kupa Piti Kungka Tjuta (The Cooper Pedy Women Senior Elders) taught me a great deal about country, community and family.

"When we were born, Grandmother cleans us with the warm sand, not with water. I was born in the Manta born on the sand on the Earth. When the belly button cord came off, were put through the smoke. Baby wears cord around neck for a long time until child grows. This way baby is peaceful and doesn't cry."
